For the first time ever, Mumbai will host night bazaars between January 12 and 31 as a part of the Mumbai Shopping Festival which was announced a month ago.

The night bazaars or flea markets will be held in three non-residential areas at Worli Seaface on January 13-14, Mindspace in Malad on 19-20 and Galleria Mall in Powai on 26-27 during the weekends and will remain open till 4:00 AM! 

The officials associated with the festival said that there will be shopping and entertainment events through the night in these zones along with food trucks serving international and local flavours. 

The new regulation that allows shops to function 24/7 was recently introduced and this festival has been possible due to the same, the officials said.

Joint MD, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, Ashutosh Rathod said the event has been planned to highlight facets of the city and state and has ensured that there is something for everyone in this fiesta.

According to the senior officials of the MTDC, more than 5,000 brands, including malls and departmental stores, have been approached to participate in the fest and offer discounts for their products. Most streets in the cities will be set up into high street shopping arenas. With over 500 performances across the city and multiple stages in 13 locations, the most popular places like Girgaum Chowpatty, Crawford Market, Carter Road, Bandra; Worli Sea Face, Shivaji Park, Dadar, Juhu Beach etc.

While most of the events are free, there will be tickets for some.

MTDC is also collaborating with the Dabbawala’s association to market and advertise the festival. Under this offer, every person who gets a dabba delivered will be given a discount coupon. Besides, there will also be lucky draw prizes for shoppers whose bills exceed ₹500.
