The Maharashtra cabinet on Wednesday, November 29, gave a nod to 50% reduction in the transfer fee payable after the sale of a flat in the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) scheme from INR 1 lakh to INR 50,000.

In May 2023, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, when he was in charge of the Housing department, had announced that the government had decided so on the matter.

The demand for reducing the transfer fee had been pending many years, and several MLAs across parties have been raising the demand. The move is likely to give breather to those planning to sell property from the SRA scheme.

As per the new plan by the present government, both plots are set to be merged for construction of the Bhasha Bhavan.

Consolidated Panchnama of weather affected areas will be presented immediately. Farmers will be compensated.
