A policeman sustained minor injuries after a car in Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar’s convoy crashed and overturned on Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Monday.

According to media reports, Pawar’s vehicle kept moving without releasing that a mishap has happened with one of his vehicles in his convoy. However, once he was informed, the NCP chief inquired about the injured personnel who was part of the Special Protection Unit of the Rajya Sabha member and oversaw medical support for him.

Pawar was travelling to Mumbai from Pune when one of the vehicles in his convoy skidded off the road near the Amrutanjan bridge. The British-ear-bridge near Lonavala was demolished in April through multiple controlled blasts, PTI reported.

The police informed that the vehicle which was overturned was removed immediately and traffic on the Expressway resumed in no time. The sources informed that Pawar continued his travel while ensuring proper treatment for the police personnel who have been injured.

Pawar had earlier visited Satara district of Maharashtra for two days. The NCP chief had gone there to take part in the selection process for office-bearers of the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha which was founded by social activist Bhaurao Patil.
