Mumbai Mayor, Kishori Pednekar has reportedly filed a complaint against BJP MLA Ashish Shelar to Maharashtra Home Minister, Dilip Walse Patil for Shelar’s “objectionable” comments against her in light of the three deaths in the BDD Chawl, gas cylinder blast, stated reports.

According to reports, on December 4, Shelar held a press conference about the gas cylinder blast and questioned why the Mumbai mayor arrived 72 hours after the explosion. He is claimed to have posed a question of where she was sleeping for so many hours.

Pednekar, in her complaint, mentioned that Shelar used “objectionable words against a woman”. She added that the Mumbai mayor is a woman and being the first citizen is a prominent post. She believes that the words used against her were offensive and is thus, protesting against the statement made by Shelar.

She is of the opinion that the words used against her have insulted not just herself but the women community. Further adding that a complaint has been lodged with the police against Shelar.

To this, Shelar responded that complaints of insult to the mayor and women are being made to the Women's Commission. He believes the police should listen to the press conference once. Adding that they have not made any objectionable statement, not about any women, not about mayors.

He believes that they are trying to create an atmosphere for those who are not getting anything without seeing his entire press conference. Shelar holds his stance that he hasn’t made any objectionable statement, mentioning that lying and propaganda is not the role of the BJP.
