Amid the ongoing crisis in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday morning, June 21, addressed a press conference and clarified that Eknath Shinde is still a part of the party.

While talking to media, Raut said: “We are in touch with our MLAs who are in Surat now. We are discussing the situation with Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar. Those working with the thought that they are kingmakers will be unsuccessful. He is a true Shiv Sainik and will return without any conditions.”

“They are not being allowed to leave. But they will certainly return as all of them are dedicated to Shiv Sena,” Raut added.

He further exclaimed that some MLAs of Shiv Sena are currently not reachable. Efforts are being made to topple the MVA government but BJP has to remember that Maharashtra is very different from Rajasthan or Madhya Pradesh.

“At the time of the formation of the MVA government, a similar effort was made by BJP, but that experiment was not successful. So now, the same effort is being made again,” Sena leader stated.

Accusing BJP for doing Operation Lotus, without clearing mentioning about it, Raut assured: “A lot of speculations are doing rounds. We are in touch with other leaders of the MVA. The kind of 'Kamala politics’ is not going to work in Maharashtra. No pressure tactic is going to work here.”

Meanwhile, defending its party, Maharashtra Legislative Council LoP Pravin Darekar asserted: “MVA government couldn't do anything in public interest. People & public representatives are dissatisfied. In MLC polls, all five of our candidates won. This isn't only Devendra Fadnavis' strategy but people are also dissatisfied with them.”

On being asked about the speculations that BJP will soon stake claims to form government in Maharashtra, Darekar acknowledged saying: “Whatever is right for people of Maharashtra will be done. Their interest is more important than the power. If it's needed for Maharashtra such a movement can take place.”

Owing to this political row, Congress leaders have called an immediate meeting at party leader Balasaheb Thorat's official residence, Royal Stone bungalow in Mumbai.
