Ashish Shelar, BJP MLA recently lashed out at the NCP for not bringing up the issues of potholes like the party did last year, when the BJP was ruling in the state. Moreover, Shelar wrote a letter to the Minister for Public Works, Ashok Chavan, raising various issues.

The BJP MLA further took to Twitter to ask pertinent questions such as why were the workers going to Konkan harassed so much this year adding that the entire highway looks like it is in a bad condition. He also questioned the NCP which took selfies with the potholes last year, asking why the party was not showcasing this "commendable initiative" this year as well.

Shelar speaking about the workers who were going to Konkan questioned why the E-passes were not issued on time to the travellers and why the State Transport buses and trains were not made available to them.

Furthermore, he added that the Mumbai-Goa highway from Panvel to Chiplun has been completely uprooted. With the fresh bridges built on this new road, there is no asphalt left. The highway is in a state of potholes with rocks everywhere. The condition of this road is worse than the dirt road in the village, concluded Ashish Shelar.

Every year the pits that fall due to the continual rains during the monsoons are filled during Ganeshotsav. However, this time the state government did not pay the required attention, claimed the BJP MLA.

The complaints of the potholes have been an ongoing issue, even in the city. The BMC had earlier created a new road on the stretch of Sion-Dharavi Link Road that had inconvenienced motorists and commuters due to the pothole-ridden roads.
