On Tuesday, March 29, the BJP hit out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over the possible restrictions on the public celebrations of festivals such as Gudi Padwa which falls on Saturday, April 2, reports stated.
According to accounts, BJP leader Ashish Shelar claimed that when it comes to festivals of a certain religious community, Thackeray's hand “seems to get paralyzed”. Shelar reportedly added that another festival, Ram Navmi falls on April 10.
The leader believes that permission to take out processions should be accorded on both days since they are auspicious occasions. Based on narratives, Shelar said that the police have imposed a curfew from March 10 to April 8.
Shelar reportedly remarked that the government should follow all security protocols and permit processions.
In the aftermath of this, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil was quoted by the news agency ANI elaborating on how the government will give permission for festivals in accordance with the disaster management guidelines.

Patil further remarked that the CM’s decision will be final. The Home Minister also believes that BJP’s politics is that of curating differences amongst people in order to divert their attention from pressing matters such as unemployment and inflation.
