Amid the ongoing controversy over alleged disparities in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) budget allocations, BJP leader Amit Satam has stated that development funds should be distributed fairly among corporators.

Reacting to reports of uneven allocation, Satam said that all wards should receive equitable funding to ensure balanced development across Mumbai. He emphasised that public funds must be used in a transparent and just manner, without bias.

The remarks come after allegations that opposition corporators received significantly lower allocations compared to those from the ruling alliance, sparking criticism of favoritism in the INR 800 crore development fund distribution.

Satam’s statement adds a new dimension to the issue, as concerns over fairness have now also been raised from within the BJP, intensifying the debate around the BMC’s budgetary decisions.
