There is a provision in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) that no one can take action against BMC’s employees and officials without the permission of the Mayor. On the basis of the same, the corporators are now demanding that they should have the same provision.

In a standing committee's meeting, the corporators spoke about the same mentioning that soon, all will start registering a complaint against corporators.

Shiv Sena’s three corporators, Sheetal Mhatre, Harshad Karkar and Balkrishna Brid have alleged Dahisar R/North ward additional commissioner Sandhya Nandedkar dumped and threatened them for demolishing a structure.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed against these said corporators and other Shiv Sena party workers for the same. Taking this into consideration, the corporators are asking to suspend the additional commissioner.

When Nandedkar complained against us, the civic body provided her a team of lawyers. We got no support and we have to fight on our own. This is unfair. When we try to file a complaint against the additional commissioner, then we were asked to take permission of the mayor. We demand that we should get the same treatment,” Sheetal Mhatre, corporator.

Corporators will not be able to work

Corporators added that the Dahisar’s incident will trigger similar incidents where the additional commissioner will start filing complaints against corporators. Arguments and bickering between the additional commissioner and corporators happen all the time while fulfilling their duties.
