Bombay High Court on Friday issued a notice to major political parties in Maharashtra including Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP), Congress, and Shiv Sena.

Why the proceedings of contempt of court should be initiated against them for putting up hoardings and banners across Maharashtra illegally?” Bombay HC asked.

A bench led by Justice A.S. Oak said that it has been discovered that these political parties have also violated the previous orders of the court.

Earlier, the Bombay HC had ordered that it was necessary to take permission in order to install the hoardings and banners in public places. The high court has asked these political parties to respond till March 27. The court was hearing several petitions filed concerning illegal hoardings and banners on roads.
