After Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party announced their alliance ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra and Lok Sabha elections, Maharashtra government on Saturday did away with the proposed oil refinery project at Nanar taluka in Maharashtra.

Earlier, the proposed project to convert Nanar into an oil refinery faced major protests from the people living in Maharashtra’s Konkan region. Along with the locals, the opposition parties protested against the same including the Shiv Sena.

This decision taken by the Fadnavis-led government comes as a relief and victory for Shiv Sena and provides confidence to the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance. Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai informed about the decision.

Desai further said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has cancelled the order which was supposed to start the procedure of land acquisition regarding the Nanar refinery project.
