Uddhav Thackeray, on Tuesday, announced his plan to visit Ayodhya and Varanasi soon. In order to muster Hindu votes and cut the mustard with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena has put up posters in Mumbai, calling people to visit the two holy places.

The posters put up by secretary Milind Narvekar at Dadar and Bandra bear slogans of ‘Chalo Ayodhya… Chalo Varanasi’.

Thackeray, in his interview in Saamana, said he would visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency Varanasi after Diwali. He will perform a Ganga Aarti on the banks of the river. The trip is meant to corner BJP votes over its poll promise of building Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, which has not been fulfilled by the ruling party yet, despite having a majority government at the Centre. The aim is also to tap into Hindu votes and widening the party’s reach, in addition to relying on the Marathi vote bank.
