After Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant received death threats on social media and over phone calls, the senior Congress leaders raised the issue in the ongoing Maharashtra assembly monsoon session.

While speaking in the state legislative assembly, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis later assured that action will be taken against those threatening anyone. 

Senior Congress leaders including Prithviraj Chavan and Vijay Wadettiwar raised the issue in the upper house claiming that Sachin Sawant has been receiving such threats since 2015 and despite several complaints, no action has been taken by the police.  Sawant claims that he has been been receiving death threats over phone calls and social media after he filed a complaint with Anti-corruption bureau against BJP minister Pankaja Munde for clearing 206 crore without inviting tenders.

The senior Congress leaders submitted a memorandum to CM Fadnavis while demanding action against those threatening Sachin Sawant.
