Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, Dhananjay Mahadik and Chitra Wagh, both leaders who left Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have been entrusted with a huge responsibility. BJP appointed both the leaders as the party’s state unit Vice President.

In a statement, it was informed that BJP chief Chandrakant Patil made the appointments on Thursday. Mahadik was an NCP MP from Kolhapur but lost the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and joined BJP while Chitra Wagh was earlier NCP women wing President.

Patil also formed sector-wise committees to create awareness about the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian constitution which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
