Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said that there is a conspiracy to defame his state and vested interest are making efforts to do so. He warned that it will not be tolerated while asserting that his silence shouldn’t be misunderstood as a weakness.
“I am not speaking about politics for now. This doesn’t mean that I don’t have an answer. The Maharashtra government is continuously working to tackle the coronavirus crisis,” Thackeray said during his address via video conference.
Referring to the whole Kangana Ranaut ‘episode’, the Chief Minister said that he would fight every storm - be it political or natural. Without naming anyone, he said that efforts are being made to defame Maharashtra.
Thackeray’s remarks come after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished a part of Bollywood Actress Kangana Ranaut’s office in Bandra citing illegal structure violations.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra has been targeting the Uddhav Thackeray government for months over Sushant Singh Rajput death case and has extended support to Ranaut amid her tussle with Shiv Sena.
The Chief Minister also took a dig at the opposition who has constantly criticised Thackeray for working from home and not touring the state amid the ongoing crisis. Thackeray said that he was trying to address every issue and reach every place via video conferencing.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena has distanced itself from the whole Kangana Ranaut ‘episode’. This happened after Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar and Sanjay Raut met the Chief Minister. Sources have confirmed that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government has decided that its leaders will stay away from the controversy.
