Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray recently held a meeting at his residence to discuss the developments in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

The meeting was chaired by Thackeray on Sunday evening and was attended by top Mumbai Police officials including Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was also present at the meeting.

Amid the rising pressure to transfer the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Chief Minister remained firm on his stand that the case was being properly handled by the Mumbai Police.

Meanwhile, Deshmukh condemned the demand to transfer Sushant Singh Rajput case to the CBI. He also pointed out that the case was being politicised for political gains.

The Maharashtra Home Minister further said that the Mumbai Police had already started the investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput’s unfortunate suicide while stating that they will continue the same as per jurisdictional rules.

It is learnt that the Maharashtra government will take cognisance of attempts to defame the police and government in connection with the investigation.

Earlier, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Parth Pawar had met Deshmukh demanding a CBI probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. However, the minister ruled out the same and said that Mumbai Police will continue to investigate the matter.

In the latest development, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) quarantined Bihar Police SP Vinay Tiwari for 15 days as per the government protocol after he arrived in Mumbai on Sunday to probe the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
