A meeting will be held today, October 28, by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to discuss the issue of buildings that do not have Occupation Certificates (OC) in Mumbai. The party leaders have said that with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls approaching next year early in February, the Shiv Sena wants the issue resolved.

The meeting is set to take place at Varsha and will be attended by Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray, Industries Minister Subhash Desai and Transport Minister Anil Parab. Others who would be present at the meet will be MLAs Sunil Prabhu and Ravindra Waikar.

MLA Sunil Prabhu said that the city has several buildings which do not have Occupation Certificates (OC), which has caused problems for residents. They have been requesting the CM to do something about the issue, but it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last week on Wednesday, October 20, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray conducted a meeting with the civic body officials and had directed the BMC to take action against unauthorized constructions.

For those unversed, if there is no OC, the flats in the apartment complex cannot be occupied by anyone, and if they cannot be occupied, warranty declaration has no meaning.
