Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant’s father and a senior congress party worker, Madhavro Sawant took the last breath on 5 March. He died of a prolonged illness.
In 1995, Madhavrao Sawant was honoured with Dalit Mitra award. He was also honoured with Vasantdada Patil award. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and grand children. “Congress had lost its gem worthy party worker and we are saddened by the loss,” said Ashok Chavan, MPCC president.
On 6 March around 10 am, a condolence meet has been organized at Sawant's residence. Post condolence meet, final rites will take place at Borivali’s crematory.
