Congress corporator Pramila Patil passes away

Pramila Kamlakar Patil, Congress corporator representing ward no. 116 in the BMC, passed away due to cardiac arrest on Tuesday night. She suffered chest pain while attending the people of her ward and she was immediately taken to Fortis Hospital but she breathed her last midway. She was 56. She was the wife of former corporator Kamlakar Patil and sister-in-law of former NCP MP Sanjay Dina Patil. She has left behind three sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and many others to mourn her loss.

Pramila Patil had defeated sitting MLA Ashok Patil’s wife in the recently held municipal elections. Her husband Kamlakar Patil had represented the ward in 1997 and 2002. After his death, Pramila Patil had contested 2012 civic elections as an independent candidate but she got defeated by only 600 votes at the hands of MNS candidate Vaishnavi Sarfare. In 2017 municipal elections, she was bagged Congress party ticket and got elected from ward no. 116.

On Tuesday, Pramila Patil was busy in attending her electorates in ‘S’ prabhag and was taking information on various schemes of the women and child welfare department. Around 8 pm, she started feeling pain in chest following which was immediately rushed to the Fortis Hospital. She was declared brought dead by the doctors.

A fortnight ago, Pramila Patil had got a few trucks caught for evading the octroi. The civic administration had not taken any action against these truck owners following which Leader of Opposition in BMC, Ravi Raja, had raised the issue in the standing committee meeting. Pramila Patil had actually played a role of ‘transparency’s security guard’ in her brief term as corporator in the BMC.

Pramila Patil was the daughter-in-law of workers union leader Dina Bama Patil and Manorama Patil. She remained loyal to the Congress party throughout her life.
