Congress State President and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, in a recent discussion with the media, informed that the letter, written by Congress President Sonia Gandhi regarding the welfare schemes for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in the state, has been handed over to the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray,
The message in the letter included suggestions made by Sonia Gandhi regarding the welfare schemes which, as per officials, were correct and as a constituent party of the government, the party workers are always working to give justice to these sections of the society. Addressing the same, CM has given a positive response, added Minister Thorat.
The meeting between the Congress delegation led by Thorat and the CM was held at Varsha Bungalow. Present at the same were Energy Minister Dr Nitin Raut, Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad, All India Congress Committee Secretary Sampat Kumar, Mumbai Congress President A. Bhai Jagtap, former minister Naseem Khan, former minister Chandrakant Handore, working president Charan Singh Sapra, Rajaram Deshmukh and others.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government is guided by NCP president Sharad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi; and though not a direct meeting, this letter was considered as a formal correspondence, which comes after a meeting was held with Dalit activists organized by the Congress party.
Sonia Gandhi has written a letter and made some suggestions regarding some issues that were discussed in this meeting.
Sharing more information, Minister Thorat said that the lead government is working on the same program. He assured that the Congress party has always been committed to the welfare of Dalits, tribals and minorities, and the party has always worked to uphold the just rights of these sections of the society.
