As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched “Save Maharashtra” Andolan, Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant has slammed the opposition party while saying that the BJP was playing politics amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Labelling BJP as “anti-Maharashtra”, Sawant said that it was expected that the BJP will stand up against the central government for the injustice done to the state and its people in terms of financial aid. It is, however, clear that BJP is not loyal to Maharashtra, he added.

Speaking on BJP's “Maharashtra Bachao” Andolan, the Congress leader said that this move by the saffron party was not to “Save Maharashtra” but it is anti-Maharashtra. Sachin Sawant further stated that Maharashtra has sent over lakhs of migrants in the state undertaking buses.

“This is not ‘Maharashtra Bachao’ but a ‘Maharashtra Virodhi’ protest by the BJP,” Sawant was quoted as saying in the media reports.

On Wednesday, Maharashtra BJP President Chandrakant Patil appealed the people to protest outside their house wearing black masks, holding black placard between 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on May 22 against the Uddhav Thackeray to highlight its “ineffective handling” of the COVID-19 situation.

Earlier, a delegation of BJP leaders led by Devendra Fadnavis submitted a memorandum to Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to highlight the same. Along with this, the BJP leaders and workers also submitted memorandums to all the tehsils and district collectors to register protest against the government.

Devendra Fadnavis also attacked the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government over the ongoing migrant crisis and demanded the state government to provide buses for the migrants who are walking to their respective states.
