Congress won't ask tough questions to Shiv Sena to save MVA alliance: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday slammed the ruling Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for sharing a “cosy relationship” and accused them of lacking governance responsibility.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party also attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for desperately trying to get away with its responsibility of BMC’s “pathetic” governance.

This comes after Congress leader Ravi Raja withdrew his nomination from the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) committee chairperson election which was held on Tuesday. Congress also withdrew its candidates on Monday for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) standing committee and BMC education committee chairperson elections.

With Congress remanning neutral in the elections, Shiv Sena’s victory in the election became easy. On Monday, Shiv Sena’s Yashwant Jadhav was re-elected as the standing committee chairperson and Sandhya Doshi of Shiv Sena was elected as the chairperson of BMC education committee.

Moreover, Raja’s withdrawal on Tuesday led to the victory of Shiv Sena’s Praveen Shinde who was elected as chairperson of BEST committee in BMC.

Reacting to this, AAP leader Preeti Sharma Menon said that the Congress will not be asking tough questions to Shiv Sena despite having the LoP position as it would affect the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra.

Furthermore, Menon criticised the BJP for trying to get away with the responsibility of BMC’s “pathetic” governance for all these years. Congress wants to take all the power and position, ruling or opposition and Shiv Sena is happy with the arrangement of loyal opposition, she added.

“We only have present and former ruling parties in the BMC and no real opposition. Shiv Sena, Cong, BJP and NCP's priority is merely power grab at all costs, to hell with Mumbaikars and Mumbai's civic woes, rampant corruption and pathetic public service delivery", AAP leader Preeti Sharma Menon said.
