After not being nominated by his party for the MLC elections in Maharashtra, sulking Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Eknath Khadse said that he would take a decision on his future political course after the COVID-19 crisis while hinting towards his resignation from the saffron party.

Reacting to being sidelined by his own party, Khadse said that he was keen on getting nominated for the legislative council polls in Maharashtra which are to be held on May 21 on nine vacancies. The state working committee was also in favour but the party did not approve, he added.

The senior BJP leader further alleged that those who worked against the party have been given tickets. The saffron party earlier named four candidates including Ranjitsinh Mohite Paril, Praveen Datke, Gopichand Padalkar and Ajit Gopchede who submitted their nomination papers on Monday.

“It is okay If I didn’t get the chance but many in the party have been working faithfully for several years in the hope of getting a ticket to the Legislative Council. There are many party workers like Madhav Bhandari, Keshav Upadhye, Avadhut Wagh. They should have been given a ticket for the MLC polls,” Khadse said.

The senior BJP leader has expressed his displeasure with the party’s state unit leadership on multiple occasions. Khadse even said that he is being ignored by his party after he was denied a ticket in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections which were held in October last year.

Khadse intended to contest the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly polls from his home ground Muktainagar in Jalgaon district. The BJP fielded his daughter Rohini Khadse instead. However, Rohini Khadse was defeated for which Eknath Khadse blamed a section of BJP leaders for the same.

The senior BJP leader has been disappointed ever since he was made to resign as a minister in 2016 over allegations of corruption.
