Corporators prioritise chowk naming over potholes on road – Praja Foundation

At the time of election every corporator has innumerable agendas in their work list, but do they really work on it post-election is the big question. In past five years, corporators have shown interest in the construction of roads and naming the chowk. Corporators inclination is more towards naming the chowk rather than repairing the potholes.

Praja Foundation has highlighted that from 2012 March – 2016 March six questions have been asked by the corporators out of which question on naming the chowk is one of them. In the year 2017, BJP has asked 18 questions whereas Shiv Sena has asked only 3 questions. Out of 227 corporators, 88 of them have asked 5 questions on daily basis in the meeting of ward committee from the year 2012 – 2016.

BJP’s Ujjwala Modak and Samajwadi Party’s Jyotsana Parmar have not asked a single question in ward committee’s meeting. BMC started voice of citizen mobile application to know Mumbaikars take on the potholes on the roads. In a span of two years, the registered complaints have increased from 1,000 – 38,000. As per statistical data, BMC has solved 61% of complaints registered informed Nitai Mehta.
