Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar informed that the petition of NCP state president Jayant Patil demanding disqualification of nine members who took oath as ministers was received on Sunday midnight and a decision will be taken after examining the legal aspects.

Along with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal, Dilip Valse Patil, Hasan Mushrif, Dhananjay Munde, Dharmaraobaba Atram, Aditi Tatkare, Sanjay Bansode and Anil Patil joined the Shiv Sena-BJP coalition government on Sunday.

After that, NCP State President Jayant Patil has filed a petition with Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar demanding disqualification action against nine members for violating the Defection Act.

Jitendra Awad has been appointed as the leader of the party, and Patil has also given a letter to the Assembly Speaker to appoint him as the Leader of the Opposition. On the other hand, the Ajit Pawar group has submitted a letter to the Assembly Speaker demanding disqualification action against Jayant Patil and Jitendra Awad for their anti-party activities.



Narvekar said that while clarifying his position in this regard, he will take a decision after checking all the matters as per the rules. First check whether the NCP is working as a ruling or opposition party. Also, the decision of the leader of the opposition party will be taken after the legal confirmation of which party has the numerical strength. Similarly, he said that he will take a decision after studying the applications received from both the groups.
