The Shiv Sena's Thackeray group has submitted a letter to the Legislature Secretariat seeking disqualification of three MLAs, including Deputy Speaker Neelam Gorhe, who joined the Shinde group from the Thackeray group. They also met Governor Ramesh Bais and demanded action from him. There was an uproar in the Legislative Council on this issue.


The Uddhav Thackeray group submitted a letter to the Legislature Secretariat to disqualify MLAs Manisha Kayande and Biplav Bajoria along with Gorhe. Since Gorhe has defected, she cannot hold a constitutional position and administer proper justice. Therefore, they should be removed from the post. A delegation of Mahavikas Aghadi met Governor Ramesh Bais at Raj Bhavan for this demand. Gorhe is the deputy chairman and the post of chairman is vacant. Because of this, the Thackeray group expressed the question of who will decide on the petition against Gorhe. Also, the MLAs of the Thackeray group demanded to meet Governor Bais and take action.

The post of Deputy Chairman is a constitutional post and the person holding that post cannot be biassed. Speaker has no party. In this regard I have the minutes of the proceedings of both the Houses of Parliament and the Legislative Council. Therefore, Jayant Patil of the Farmers' Labor Party demanded that his deputy chairman's post should be cancelled. Anil Parab of the Thackeray group also demanded the same. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was present in the hall, objected and protested. Fadnavis challenged Patil that the opposition parties can bring a no-confidence motion against the Deputy Speaker as per the rules. While the MLAs from both sides were arguing, the work was completed in confusion.


A delegation of Maha Vikas Aghadi met Governor Bais to demand that Gorhe be removed from the post of Deputy Chairman. The Deputy Speaker has requested the Governor to take a decision as soon as possible as he cannot remain in office and give justice due to his defection. Also, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve, has demanded that the Governor should appoint a committee and run the work until this embarrassment is resolved. NCP leaders Jayant Patil, Rajesh Tope, Anil Deshmukh, Congress Party's Balasaheb Thorat, Ashok Chavan, Prithviraj Chavan etc. were included in the delegation.
