People are feeling neglected as they aren’t being permitted to travel by the local trains. Thus, various political parties, travel associations are demanding that Mumbai locals be open to the public. BJP Maharashtra Chief Spokesperson Keshav Upadhye tweeted to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray saying, “Chief Minister can work from home, but Mumbaikars have to go to the office”.

He further elaborated, “Today there is a cabinet meeting, will decisions be made in the public interest today? The Chief Minister can work from home, but Mumbaikars have to go to the office. There is dissatisfaction among the people due to the ban on local train travel.” He has demanded that the state government should immediately relax restrictions and let the locals use trains.

He added that parents and students are worried that the entire last academic year was wasted due to the non-commencement of schools, additionally, the cost of home-based education is on the rise. The first-year junior college admission is on and with covid-19 infections declining, a decision in regards to the admission process should be taken immediately, he demanded.

In regards to the flood victims, he has demanded that the rehabilitation process should be immediately commenced. An aid package for those affected should be announced without finding any cause, he said.

Thus, the question of when local trains will resume their services to the general public continues to be pertinent.
