Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadanavis on Tuesday lashed out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over latter’s remarks on the student protests at Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI).

Fadnavis, former Maharashtra Chief Minister, said that comparing the incident at Jamia Milia with Jallianwala bagh massacre is an insult to all the martyrs.

Equating Jamia University incident with Jallianwala bagh massacre by CM Uddhav ji Thackeray is big big insult to all the martyrs who have sacrificed their life for our Nation (sic),” Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Devendra Fadnavis tweeted.

Fadnavis shared a video on his twitter account where “Azaadi” slogans can be heard in the protest. “Entire Nation & Maharashtra wants to know if Uddhav Ji agrees with these slogans?” Fadnavis asked.

By promoting and encouraging such agitations, it is now very clear  to what extent Shiv Sena has stooped down on compromises for personal greeds (sic),” said Devendra Fadnavis.

Earlier today, CM Uddhav Thackeray had linked the police crackdown in Jamia to the Jallianwala bagh massacre.

The students across the country are protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) which has been passed by both the Houses of Parliament.
