Leader of opposition and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and the ruling Maharashtra government are engaged in a verbal dual over Metro 3 in Mumbai which is stuck due to the Aarey car shed issue.

Moreover, Fadnavis has time and again proved that his information network is robust. During his tenure as CM, Fadnavis had decided to set up the car shed at Aarey, but current CM Uddhav Thackeray decided to shift it to Kanjurmarg. Though the land was under litigation, the Mumbai suburban collector certified the plot was litigation-free.

Ultimately, Bombay HC stayed the project following a petition filed by the salt land commissioner. Fadnavis had disclosed the contents of the affidavit filed by the Collector, revoking the land allotment order. He had tweeted critical portions on the feasibility report of the Aarey land submitted by additional CS Manoj Saunik. He even revealed a significant finding of the committee headed by chief secretary Sanjay Kumar on the Kanjurmarg plot feasibility. In the past too, as an opposition legislator, he had disclosed the report of the CAG even before it was tabled before the legislature.

Besides, a few days ago, Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis took a swipe at the Uddhav Thackeray-led coalition government (MVA) over the delay in development of a Metro car shed in Mumbai - a subject the former allies have often sparred over since parting ways in 2019.

The remark came a week after he wrote to Thackeray making his case for the car shed for Metro line-3 to be shifted back to its original but environmentally-sensitive site in Mumbai's Aarey Colony.

"I travelled in Delhi Metro today to go back to the airport and reached in a very short span (of time) as compared to travel by road! (I) don't know when I will be able to travel in Mumbai Metro 3 to the airport, looking at the things messed up by MVA on Car Shed issues," he tweeted.

He said the MVA coalition government was being misled by some bureaucrats, and that shifting the project away from Aarey Colony would only add to the cost and cause more environmental damage.
