Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that no district borders will be opened when the lockdown is relaxed and held a review meeting on Tuesday regarding the COVID-19 situation in the state with the divisional commissioners and district collectors via video conferencing.

Uddhav Thackeray asked the district collectors to ensure that restrictions in containment zones are followed strictly in each area. The coronavirus must not be allowed to spread outside these zones in any circumstances, the Chief Minister added. 

“The migrant workers are travelling, the state machinery must take necessary steps and precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus,” the CM said while adding that it should be ensured that the COVID-19 doesn’t spread in areas where industrial activities have started. 

Thackeray also asked the district authorities to be prepared to deal with the monsoon related ailments in their respective areas and make sure that the health infrastructure is ready to differentiate between the coronavirus infection and monsoon diseases. 

“With monsoon, the monsoon-related disease will also come. We will have to keep the health machinery ready to deal with the patients of COVID-19 and monsoon related ailments,” Uddhav Thackeray said. 

Along with this, the Chief Minister told the district authorities to ensure that private doctors resume practice Earlier, the Maharashtra government issued a notification making it compulsory for private doctors in Mumbai to serve at hospitals treating COVID-19 hospitals for at least 15 days or else their license will be revoked. 

Apart from red zones, the private doctors and their clinics have been allowed to open in green and orange zones. In the virtual meeting, Uddhav Thackeray told the district collectors to follow the Goa model and see whether they can carry out a door-to-door health check for COVID-19 and other diseases. 

The Chief Minister has also asked the district authorities to come up with an exit strategy of their respective areas from the national lockdown and submit the same by May 15. Moreover, Uddhav Thackeray sought suggestions for the regulations which were needed to be imposed in these areas as a part of the containment zone strategy.
