If you want to hear the truth and ‘Kaam ki Baat’ (important issues), come to us. Go to Modi, if you want to hear lies and ‘Man ki Baat’,” asserted Congress President Rahul Gandhi while launching his political campaign ahead of the upcoming 2019 general elections.

While addressing the crowd at MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai, the Congress President on Friday evening attacked PM Modi over various issues saying that the Prime Minister is not only a “thief” but is also a “coward”

BJP directly attacked the constitution: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of directly attacking the constitution. Gandhi pointed out to the removal of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Alok Verma by Modi regime while questioning the wind up of Planning Commission and highlighted the matter of Judge Loya’s death.

Modi government remove the CBI director at midnight around 1:30 AM. What was the need for it? For the first time ever, RBI governor resigned. Planning Commission which made development plans for the country was put to an end. The constitution is your voice, it doesn’t only belong to Modi or RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat,” the Congress President said.

Modi destroyed small business by implementing GST: Rahul Gandhi

Moreover, Gandhi claimed that the Modi government has failed to provide loan waivers to the farmers. “…rather, the central government has helped the corporates and fugitive businessmen to escape from their debts,” averred the Congress President, adding that, Modi government has crushed the small business owners in Mumbai and across the country by implementing the “Gabbar Singh Tax” (Goods and Services Tax or GST).

Ask any shopkeeper or small businessmen and they’ll inform you that GST has not benefited them but it is profitable to the corporates in the country,” said Gandhi while the crowd indulged in sloganeering against Modi.

Rahul criticises Modi over Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme

Earlier on February 1, while presenting the interim budget for the financial year 2019-20 in Parliament, the BJP government launched Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme which is supposed to provide farmers and their families a financial help of ₹6,000 per year. The eligible farmers who possess cultivable land up to two acres will be provided with this direct income support in three instalments of ₹2,000.

Reacting to this, Rahul Gandhi in Mumbai denounced the same and said that the scheme only gives ₹17 per day farmers and their families and ₹3.5 per day to a single eligible farmer.

All BJP MPs in the Parliament continued applauding for Modi for five minutes after this (PM-KISAN) scheme was announced as if something historic has happened. It seemed like Modi would beat them up if they didn’t thump on their desks,” the Congress President asserted.

Minimum Income Guarantee (MIG) Scheme

Taking a jibe at Modi’s promise to give ₹15 lakh to every citizen, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that if Congress comes to power in the upcoming elections it will provide a minimum income to every poor person across the country. However, Gandhi did not discuss the same in detail.

If Congress comes to power in 2019, which I am sure it will, every poor person across India will get minimum income under the Minimum Income Guarantee (MIG) scheme. The Congress government will transfer the money in the bank account of every eligible person,” said Rahul Gandhi.

500 square feet houses for slum dwellers in Mumbai

The Congress President said that Mumbai operates like an “engine of this country” and its strength along with the city’s potential should be recognised. While addressing the gathering, Gandhi promised that under the Slum Rehabilitation scheme the slum dwellers will be given 500 square feet houses if Congress is voted power.

People living in Mumbai’s slums will be provided with 500 square feet houses if Congress forms a government in the upcoming elections and we will fulfil the same within 10 days. I am saying 10 days, but I assure you that it will be done sooner,” Rahul Gandhi said.
