FIR filed against Maharashtra Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad

On Tuesday, Somaiya took to Twitter and informed that he has filed an FIR at Colaba Police station against Jitendra Awhad and “anti-India demonstrations” at Gateway of India.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya on Tuesday informed that he has filed a complaint with Mumbai police regarding the ‘Free Kashmir’ placard which was raised during a protest at Gateway of India in Mumbai. 

I have filed a complaint with police, they have assured me of investigation,” Somaiya said.

On Tuesday, Somaiya took to Twitter and informed that he has filed an FIR at Colaba Police station against “anti-India demonstrations” at Gateway of India. Somaiya further tweeted that he has filed a complaint against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Jitendra Awhad while demanding action against him for protesting at Gateway of India without permission.

Earlier, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh informed that Mumbai Police will take legal action against writer Mehak Mirza Prabhu for raising ‘Free Kashmir’ placard during a protest at Gateway of India.

On Monday, the photo of Mehak Mirza Prabhu holding ‘Free Kashmir’ placard went viral on social media and created huge chaos. The students and youth were protesting at Gateway of India for 35 hours straight against attack on JNU students until they were “relocated” by Mumbai police to Azad Maidan on Tuesday morning. 

On Sunday night, masked men entered the JNU campus in Delhi and attacked the students and professors present there with sticks and rods while damaging the property in the university premises.

Nearly 28 students were ‘badly’ injured in the attack including Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh.
