The Filmfare Awards are considered the most prestigious in Bollywood cinema. This year is the 69th year of the Filmfare festival. Every year this award ceremony is organised in Mumbai. However, this year the event has been organised at Gift City with the help of Gujarat Tourism. The opposition in Maharashtra has targeted the government as the event held in Mumbai was organised in Gujarat this year. NCP MLA Jitendra Awad has shared an X (Twitter) post in this regard.

“The relationship between Indian cinema and Mumbai is almost 100 years old. Many artists, singers, many films, many songs were produced in this Mumbai. This city had the largest number of cinemas in India. The family displaced from Pakistan earned crores of rupees from this film industry. Akshay Kumar, who worked on a vegetable cart, became a billionaire as soon as he touched this soil.

"The Filmfare Award is being shifted from Mumbai. No artist is ready to speak against it. That is, Marathi soil was used only by these people to fill their own pockets. Each house is worth INR 100- INR 150 crores. They earned this money with hard work; But, earned from this soil, it is also important.” Jitendra Awhad wrote in his X post.

Earlier, NCP MLA Jayant Patil had also criticised this by sharing an X post. Meanwhile, this year's 69th Hyundai Filmfare event is being held at Gandhinagar Gift City, Gujarat on January 27 and 28. Every year this ceremony is organised in Mumbai itself. Filmfare was organised in Guwahati in 2020. The opposition has targeted the government as the Filmfare awards ceremony has also been shifted to Gujarat while major projects have already moved from Maharashtra.
