Maharashtra Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Wednesday informed that Aadhaar card is not required to avail ‘Shiv Bhojan Thali’.

The Thali is being provided under the state government’s scheme for only ₹10 and will be initiated from January 26.

When asked about the need to show ‘Aadhaar card’ for buying ‘Shiv Bhojan Thali’, Bhujbal confirmed that the same would not be necessary.

No Aadhaar card will be required to buy the ‘thali’, Shiv Bhojan canteens will be started at district headquarters and in municipal corporation areas,” said Bhujbal.

The senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader also informed that each canteen will be able to provide 75 to 150 meals for lunch.

“Each canteen will have the capacity to serve 25 customers at a time and the same will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis,” said Bhujbal.

To provide a ‘thali’ worth ₹10 for the poor and needy, was one of the election promises of Shiv Sena in the assembly polls held last year.
