What change would you like to see in the country? After this question was asked to veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, he gave a suggestive answer. Naseeruddin Shah has expressed the hope that we want to see Modi wearing a skullcap (a round cap used by the Muslim community). In a detailed interview given to The Wire, Naseeruddin Shah commented on issues such as the Lok Sabha election results, the third term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the state of the minority community in the country. On this occasion, Shah gave a detailed stand on this question asked by the famous interviewer Karan Thapar about Modi.
In the interview, Karan Thapar asked Naseeruddin Shah about Narendra Modi's third term cabinet. “For the first time in the history of the country, there is no representative of the Muslim community in the government. There is no Muslim, Christian, Sikh MP in NDA. But Modi has appointed one Sikh and one Christian minister in the government. What do you think about this situation?” Such a question was asked to Naseeruddin Shah. He replied to that.
What did Naseeruddin Shah say?
At this time, Shah stated that the Muslim hatred in the BJP has gone beyond his control. “It's disappointing. But there is nothing surprising in this. The hatred towards Muslims in BJP is deeply rooted. It is now out of their control too. I don't think they can do anything about it. There is only one thing Muslims can do about it. Not answering hate with hate. Like Rahul Gandhi said that 'Nafrat ke bazaar mein mohabbat ki dukaan. We should try that. We should not immediately feel bad about any statement and look beyond those statements", said Shah in his reply.
“Modi has not included any Muslim anywhere. Because they don't think Muslims deserve it. Even when Hamid Ansari was retiring from the post of Vice President, Modi made fun of him. He had said that 'now you can go back to your original thinking'. So we all have to do this together", appealed Naseeruddin Shah at this time.
“Modi should wear skullcap”
Meanwhile, Naseeruddin Shah has expressed the hope that Modi should wear a skullcap (a round cap mainly used by the Muslim community). “Modi seems to love to wear a hat on his head. I would like to see him wear a skullcap", he said. He also explained the reason behind his statement.
“Muslims have no person whom they can accept as their leader. It is not necessary that the leader should be a Muslim. But he should be talking to Muslims about things that actually mean something. That person should be one whom the Muslims can accept without any objection. I want an end to hateful statements", said Shah.
"Modi's ego is too big"
“It would be too much to expect Modi to control his statements. Because their ego is very big. So they will never admit where they have gone wrong. So if they just wear a skullcap, it can send a good message", said Shah.
“He refused to wear a skullcap at an event back then. That kind of thing is hard to forget. But if he wears a skullcap, he can send the message that 'I am no different from you.' We are both citizens of this country. If he wants to please the Muslims of this country, this action can benefit him. Perhaps this will show that he has accepted the fact that Muslims are also citizens of this country", said Naseeruddin Shah at this time.
