In the wake of the elections, there has been a huge increase in prohibitory actions in Mumbai this year and 9,593 prohibitory actions have been taken this year. This action has been taken in the four months of January-April. During the same period last year, prohibitory action was taken against 6,038 persons.
The Mumbai Police had recently informed the Collector's office about the prohibitory action. This year, the highest number of 6,201 actions have been taken under CrPC 107. If there is an apprehension of breach of peace by a person, action is taken against the person concerned under CrPC 107.
Apart from this, 2154 and 916 actions have been taken under CrPC section 110 and 151 (3) respectively. 33, 193 and 90 operations have been conducted under Section 55, 56 and 57 of the Maharashtra Police (MP) Act respectively. Apart from this, action has been taken against six persons under the APDA Act.
In the four months of January to April last year, 3754 actions were taken under CrPC Section 107, 1743 under CrPC Section 110 and 243 under 151 (3). 24, 188 and 80 prohibitory actions were taken under Sections 55, 56, 57 of the MP Act respectively. Action was taken against six persons under the MPDA Act last year.
Actions for search or arrest are made under Sections 55, 56, 57 of the Maharashtra Police Act (formerly Mumbai Police Act). According to this, the person concerned cannot enter the district or locality mentioned in the order for the specified period. Apart from this, prohibitory action is taken by the police under Maharashtra Police Act 68, 69, and 151, Penal Procedure Code 107, 109, 110.
