Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis has attacked the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government alleging that it was more interested in transferring officials rather than tackling the COVID-19 outbreak.

Taking a dig at the ruling dispensation, Fadnavis said that transferring officials seems to be the only business of this government. He also stated that there was a lack of coordination in the government over this issue.

While talking to reporters in Nagpur, the former Chief Minister said that administrative transfers are important but it can wait in view of the coronavirus outbreak. Fadnavis added that If there are no transfer in a year, it doesn’t make much difference.

“The replacement allowance for a year costs ₹500 crores. On one hand, the government say that they have no money even to pay salaries to their employees. So, why get busy with transfers? The problem with this government is that it is occupied with conducting transfers only,” Fadnavis, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly said.

Fadnavis was on a two-day visit to the flood-affected areas in the Vidarbha region.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra BJP President Chandrakant Patil has alleged that the ministers in the MVA government have laundered huge sums of money from favoured officials in the name of transfers. Patil has demanded a CID inquiry into the same.

Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar passed an order stating that no officials from the finance department will be transferred. Despite this, Patil alleged that the CM Uddhav Thackeray-led General Administration Department (GAD) allowed the transfers.

Patil, former Revenue Minister of Maharashtra, accused the Maharashtra government of arbitrarily changing its policy to allow transfers and said that it was in violation of the law.
