Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Friday said that Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena alliance will form the government and this government will last its stipulated tenure of five-years.
While talking to the media, Pawar ruled out the possibility of re-elections in Maharashtra asserting that the three parties want to form a stable government that will focus on the development related issues in the state..
There is no possibility of mid-term elections. The government will be formed and will last for five years. Right now the talks between the three parties are going on,” said Pawar.
When asked about NCP holding discussion with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over government formation in Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar said that his party was holding discussions with Shiv Sena, Congress and its allies only. “Nobody else,” said Pawar.
The NCP chief further stated that the three parties are currently working out a common minimum programme (CMP) to form a stable government. The leaders from the three parties met on Thursday in Mumbai.
Senior NCP leader Nawab Malik earlier in the day informed that concerned leaders from all three parties – Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena – finalised the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and its draft has been sent to the high command of all three parties for approval.
Pawar’s remarks come after former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that there is no alternative to the BJP government in the state. Fadnavis on Thursday stated that if the Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena form the government, it won’t last for more than six months.
