Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnaivs on Thursday said that there is no alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Maharashtra while stating that no other government (if formed) would last long.

While addressing the party MLAs and others in a meeting at Dadar, BJP Legislative party leader Fadnavis said that the three parties – Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena – cannot form the government.

BJP feels that such a government (Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena) cannot be formed in the first place. If they form the government in the state, it won’t last more than six months. There is no alternative to the BJP government,” said Devendra Fadnavis.

Fadnavis’ remarks come during the time when NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena seem to be working things out to provide a “stable government” in Maharashtra while discussing a common minimum programme (CMP).

NCP leader Nawab Malik on Friday informed that the concerned leaders from all three parties have finalised the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and its draft has been sent to the high command of all three parties for approval. The leaders from three parties held a joint meeting on Thursday.

After the meeting, Ashish Shelar on Thursday informed that the discussion was about the ongoing political situation in Maharashtra but refused to comment on any political question.

However, Shelar stated that the BJP MLAs have been asked to visit their respective constituencies and gather details on the farmers affected by the untimely rains.

After BJP – the single largest party in Maharashtra with 105 seats - refused to form the government, Shiv Sena is holding talks with Congress and NCP to provide a stable government in the state.
