On Wednesday, August 3, the chief spokesperson of the Eknath Shinde-led faction, Deepak Kesarkar, was quoted in reports elaborating on how the expansion of the Shinde-headed Maharashtra cabinet could transpire before Sunday, August 7. With the expansion still awaited, Shinde and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis are the only two members in the cabinet since the formation of the new government.

For the last couple of weeks, opposition leaders have been questioning the delay in cabinet expansion and the alleged misgivings owing to the governance in the state. Based on accounts, Aaditya Thackeray during his rallies in his ongoing tours was reportedly seen declaring that there is a jumbo cabinet of mere two people even with a flood situation in Maharashtra. In his Shiv Sanvaad Yatra, he voiced that they are not able to find the third deserving person even after a span of one month.

However, in the midst of this, on Wednesday, Kesarkar added that the expansion of the cabinet is anticipated before Sunday. On the other hand, speculations are being made that the higher-ups are awaiting the verdict of the Supreme Court (SC) slated to be made on Thursday, August 4 to make a decision on the cabinet expansion.

It has been reported that the Maharashtra legislature's monsoon session was scheduled to commence on July 18. However, it was put off after Shinde brought down the Uddhav Thackeray-headed government.
