Taking at swipe at the opposition BJP, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday, December 3, said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government (MVA) is not a three-wheeled autorickshaw, but a four-wheeled "peoples Rath".

Thackeray was speaking at a book launch event and even addressed the media. He unveiled a booklet 'Maharashtra Thambla Nahi, Maharashtra Thambnar Nahi', which highlights MVA's achievements over the past 12 months.

"We are often described as a 'three-wheeler vehicle'. But let me tell you... We are actually a four-wheeler 'rath', the fourth being the peoples' faith. It is the 'rath of the janata' with four wheels," Thackeray asserted, without naming the BJP.

It is well-known in the political circles that the BJP often describes the MVA government as an 'autorickshaw' referring to the three constituents - the Shiv Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party, and the Congress.

Showing his confidence in the alliance, Thackeray said, "I trust all my ministers, there is no need for me to tap the phones of my colleagues. All are doing really good work. This Government is firm.”

"This government has the support of people. They have accepted us as we are doing good work," he added.

However, his statement came after Union Minister Raosaheb Danve recently expressed confidence that the BJP will again come to power in Maharashtra in the next two to three months. On the other hand, former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had also said that he is not waiting for the "unnatural" alliance to fall but "historically, such governments never lasted four-five years".

"Let me add that Maharashtra has never been scared of anybody and will not be frightened of anyone in the future," said Thackeray.

Pawar said that there is no doubt that the government will run for 5 years but now lay the foundation for 25 years. Thackeray further said that there is “total coordination” among the three parties and its smaller allies. Dismissing the opposition charges that the three allies squabble a lot, Shiv Sena President said: "There is total coordination among us and also the smaller allies. Pawar Saheb guides us regularly. Even (Congress President) Sonia Gandhi speaks to me regularly on the phone."

Responding to BJP's 'work-from-home CM' charges, Thackeray asserted, "There is absolute teamwork and everyone knows very well their responsibilities and what to do. My colleagues move around... I admire Pawar Saheb, who regularly tours all over the state."

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Thorat also addressed the gathering where they dismissed all Opposition speculation that the MVA government would collapse, assuring it will last its full tenure.
