Senior Congress leader and former minister Patangrao Kadam (73) passes away, on Friday. He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai for the last few days, and his health conditioned worsened over the last few days. His condition was admitted to ICU for treatment and observation.

Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi also visited him at Lilavati Hospital to know the condition. As per reports, the former minister had a kidney-related illness and was kept on the ventilator. His mortal remains will be brought in the morning to Bharati Vidyapeeth, at around 10:30 AM, and he will be cremated at around 4 PM. The body will be kept at the house to seek blessings and offer prayers.

Members of the Maharashtra Congress are in shock as the party today lost a mass leader. Sharing their grief, the Maharashtra unit of the Congress party shared a tweet stating, "We regret to inform about the sad demise of our senior and popular Congress leader Patangrao Kadam. @INCMaharashtra lost a mass leader. Our deepest condolences to his family."

Whereas, Mumbai Congress tweeted a message which read, "We are extremely saddened at the demise of our Senior Leader Patangrao Kadam. We pay our deep condolences to his family and friends." 

Offering his prayers, Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "My deepest condolences on the unfortunate demise of Senior Congress leader and educationist Patangrao Kadam ji. This is an irreparable loss to the Congress party. My love and support to his family in this hour of grief."

Kadam is survived by his son Vishwajeet, a Youth Congress leader who could not make a mark in the Lok Sabha election when he contested from Pune in 2014.
