Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in April, Senior Congress and Maharashtra Opposition leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil on Tuesday had reportedly offered to resign from the party on “moral grounds” after his son – Sujay Vikhe Patil – joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, Patil has denied the same calling it a “rumour”. 

Earlier, after the Sujay Vikhe Patil-episode, the Opposition leader held a press conference and informed that he won’t campaign for or against his son. However, there were strong speculations that Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil would resign from Congress and his constitutional post. 

In the political circle, it is being said that the senior Congress leader has offered resignation from the party and his position as Leader of the opposition. The party high command can take a decision regarding this today, sources informed.

However, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil came forward and refuted the “rumours” about him offering resignation after various news channels flashed the same on Tuesday.
