Maharashtra Congress Committee Chairman Balasaheb Thorat, on Monday, January 25, 2021, came in support of the farmers and stated that the BJP government at the Center, which works for the capitalists, has not lost anything to the farmers. Speaking against the laws which were implemented by the government, he said that as long as the central government does not repeal them, Congress will continue to fully support the farmers in their protest.

Balasaheb Thorat, on behalf of the Congress, attended the 'Samyukta Shetkari Kamgar Morcha' organized at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. The protest was against the Central Government's recently introduced Farmers Bill.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the laws are for stockists and capitalists. An unprecedented and new history of farmers' agitation has been going on on the Delhi border for the last two months, but the BJP government at the Center, which works for the capitalists, has not lost anything to the farmers.

However, by bringing the three laws, the Modi government has attacked the very existence of workers and farmers across the nation. The protest at Azad Maidan will strengthen the farmers' movement in Delhi and will be a beacon for the country.

Adding more, he stated that from the very beginning, Congress has strongly opposed the laws brought by the BJP government through various agitations. Movements were held in Maharashtra too, whereby tractor rallies, Kisan rallies, agitations, discussions at Raj Bhavan, etc. were held. A statement with two crore signatures from across the country has also been submitted to the President. The Congress party is with the farmers in this struggle and will continue to fight till the government repeals the laws, assured Balasaheb Thorat.

He stated that the party has always stood firmly with the farmers, labourers and workers. Here in Maharashtra, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government is committed to bringing laws in the interest of farmers, whereby discussions are underway and decisions will be implemented soon.
