Farmers call off strike
SHARES

Farmers’ strike had rocked the entire state. The situation was tense and it the condition was unpleasant. Thankfully, they have called off the strike after a meeting with CM Devendra Fadnavis. The strike was called off on Saturday morning.

The CM has assured the farmers that 70 per cent of their demands will be met and the state will appoint a committee to monitor all the activities. The committee is expected to be set up by October 31.

Summary of the fiasco:

1) Loans

Loans of small land-owning farmers will be waived off, according to the state.

2) Standard Pricing

If goods are purchased below the set standard price, an official complaint can be registered. It is illegal to pay less than the standard price and this law will be applicable soon. Maharashtra will be the first state to have a committee designated for this.

3) Milk pricing

The State would go over this issue and come to a conclusion by June 20.

4) Free Electricity

The farmers will be granted free electricity and all the penalty over bills will be waived off.

During this protest, many complaints have been registered against farmers for violent actions. All those complaints will be excused and a clean slate will be issued.

It’s good to see the farmers getting some aid from the government and let’s hope the state progresses in the right direction.
