The state government of Maharashtra has imposed strict restrictions across all districts due to the increasing coronavirus cases. Following this, while addressing the state, CM Uddhav Thackeray announced financial aid for the needy, stating that the government has made plans to take care of its citizens who earn daily wages and work hard to make ends meet.

Sharing more information, Maharashtra's Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Chhagan Bhujbalhas expressed his views regarding the Shiv Bhojan Thali scheme which was started with an aim to feed the citizens at a low cost. He said that government is providing support to the laborers, the destitute, the homeless and the poor, however, several leaders from the opposition have criticised the scheme. 

For the past several days, Shivbhojan Thali has been criticized on social media. However, this effort will help fill the stomachs of the poor and keeping this in mind, one should look at the facts and then express them in social media, he said.

As per reports, over 96,000 people made the most of Shiv Bhojan Thali on Thursday, April 15, 2021, whereby 98,985 free plates were distributed till noon on Friday, April 16, 2021, mentioned the Food and Civil Supplies Department. Moreover, an order has been issued to distribute free Shiv Bhojan thali in the currently imposed Sec 144, as per the package announced by the Chief Minister. 

Following this, Minister Chhagan Bhujbal has also ordered all the centers to distribute the same as pler plans, following all the rules of the curfew drafted by the state government.

It is said that Shiv Bhojan Thali is an ambitious scheme of the state government which was effectively implemented when the party came to power, under the guidance of Minister Chhagan Bhujbal. This scheme has helped several people in need, especially during the coronavirus lockdown in 2020, where the food was offered at a cost of INR 5. 

Adding more, Minister Bhujbal has instructed the department to work faster as this crisis has reached a new peak again this year and many people who earn daily wages have been affected in the curfew. Reports state that people who are homeless have been making the most of these meals and Minister Bhujbal also expressed his satisfaction over the provision of daily meals to the ones in need.
