While addressing the press, Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel said the NCP's legislators were delayed due to a split in the government.

Talking about the same, Congress leader Ahmed Patel said that  Maharashtra Chief Minister and Deputy CM were sworn in without Band Baaja and Baarat, stating that he was sworn in without investigation. Party leaders also said that all the decisions were taken without at intimation, making one realise that something has gone wrong somewhere. Sharing his disappointment, Ahmed Patel further said that this day will be written in black ink in the history of Maharashtra

Ahmed Patel, defending the party, said that there was no delay from the Congress on the process of forming a government in Maharashtra, further adding that as soon as Uddhav Thackeray called Sonia Gandhi, Congress leaders ensured they came to Mumbai the next day.

Discussions were taking place on some issues between the three parties. Today was the last step of the dialogue, but before that was accomplished, the BJP formed a government in the state. Ahmed Patel said that the delay in forming the government was due to the fault of the NCP legislators.
