Amid the economic crisis due to the coronavirus lockdown, the Maharashtra government is planning to start the industrial process in parts of the state where not even a single COVID-19 case has reported.

Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai has asked his department to draft a proposal on how to restart industrial production in districts with no coronavirus cases.

“I have asked my department to come up with a proposal on how to start industrial production from districts excluding Mumbai and Pune as they are red zone,” Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai tweeted.

Desai held a review meeting to examine the condition of industrial activity in the state and suggested that with agricultural activities being allowed to carry out, the farmers have got some relief.

“Similarly, permanent and contractual employees should also get some relief,” Desai stated.

Moreover, the Maharashtra Industry Minister informed that the state government will demand an extension of the bank of loans from the centre for next couple of months so that the small and medium scale industries could pay salaries to their employees.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday announced two committees to suggest effective measures to revive the economy which has been adversely affected due to the lockdown amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier, Ajit Pawar took Twitter to inform that a cabinet sub-committee meeting was held in the Mantralaya to review the current status of the coronavirus outbreak.

The lockdown in Maharashtra has been extended till April 30 while Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday also announced that the nationwide lockdown will remain till May 3. Amid this, the industries and various business activities have come to a halt which has affected the economy in the state.
