On Monday, November 2, the Chief Minister’s Office, informed that the government of Maharashtra is going to sign MoU worth ₹35,000 crores for new business in the state.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray along with the investors on Monday. This new investment is touted to create at least 23,182 jobs in the state. Some of the investors include Netmagic (₹10,000 crores), Adani Group (₹5,000 crores), ESR India (₹4,500 crores) and Colt, UK (₹4,500 crores) in data centres at Navi Mumbai.

Amidst the outbreak of the coronavirus coupled with the subsequent economic slowdown, this comes as great news as this will create fresh jobs in the sectors of data centres, logistics, oil and gas, auto, electrical and electronics.

Meanwhile, in a bid to curb the cases of coronavirus, the Maharashtra government last week extended the lockdown in the State till November 30. The phase-wise opening of economic activities will continue under the State's ‘Mission Begin Again’ plan in order to contain the spread of the virus.

Issuing the circular, the MVA government asked all the departments to strictly adhere to these guidelines. The activities already allowed by the government will continue in the non-containment zones and all previous orders will align with this order.
