Amid the ongoing tussle in the Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray on Monday, August 1, termed the whole situation as a ‘political circus’.

Addressing Shiv Sena workers during his tour of the Konkan region, Thackeray said the Shinde government's focus is on "dirty politics" and not the welfare of the people.

"When Uddhav ji was CM, nobody felt that they are being discriminated against. But now, regionalism is being brought in deliberately. Attempts are being made to create divides among people. They want to take Maharashtra down and divide it into five parts," he added.

Governor BS Koshyari drew Opposition's ire recently for suggesting that Mumbai would run out of money if Gujaratis and Rajasthanis were removed from the city. "He deliberately took names of Thane and Mumbai where polls are going to be held," he stated.

The state witnessed incessant rains and floods, but the government is not bothered, Thackeray claimed.

Maharashtra never tolerates treachery and the Eknath Shinde-led government will collapse for sure, Yuva Sena chief and former minister Aaditya Thackeray said in Sindhudurg.

He also extended support to Sanjay Raut and said that the arrest of the Shiv Sena leader is against democracy.

Later in the day, the court has sent Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till August 4 in connection with the Patra Chawl case. A day earlier, on Sunday, July 31, following the day-long raid, ED arrested Raut.

The rebellion by Shinde and 40 MLAs of Shiv Sena led to the collapse of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government last month. On June 30, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis sworn in, without a single minister in the cabinet. With this, Maharashtra becomes the third state in the country to be run by only two people for such a long time.
